UHF Humidity-Temperature RFID Tag
Toronto, Canada - GAO RFID Inc. (www.GAORFID.com) has released a new product called UHF humidity-temperature RFID tag which is designed for use in environmentally sensitive areas such as IT data centers. The tag can monitor the ambient temperature and relative humidity inside of data center racks to enable easy mapping of data center temperature profiles and air flow optimization. Meanwhile, it also can report real-time environmental conditions periodically. The compact RFID tag is an ideal tool for monitoring rack installed assets and sensitive equipment in high-density environments.
The single use humidity-temperature RFID tag, model 124055, is encased in an impact resistant polycarbonate enclosure with a strong adhesive on the back of the case. It offers a temperature sensor accuracy of ±1.2°C and a humidity sensor accuracy of ±5% RH. It features a low-battery alert function and operates with a very low duty cycle and a 10s beacon rate. The small form factor ensures clear signal transmission in high-density deployments. What are the affects of humidity & temperature on traveling sound?
I was just a little curious to know if humidity and temperature have any affect on the distance sound travels. If an explosion were to happen in a open range would it travel further in a higher humidity or temperature or a lower humidity or temperature. Would the speed be affected as well?
Also, results on both low and high pitched sounds. Thank you.
As temperature increase the speed of sound increases. As well, sound travels slightly faster in moist (humid) air than dry air. From being band i know that the colder it is the flatter (lower) the pitch. (Which is why the orchestra pulled an Ashlee Simpson on Inaguration day. Too cold to play in tune!)

How to stop the flu (MIT)
Between 1918 and 1920, an influenza epidemic swept across the globe, infecting
more than a quarter of the world’s population and killing 50 to 100 million
people.
If a similar outbreak occurred today, vaccines might help, but it’s possible
that vaccine production would not be ramped up in time to have a significant
effect. Furthermore, hospitals would likely be overwhelmed, leaving many
patients to be cared for by family members at home.
In that situation, non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) would be critical
to minimizing the spread of infection, say Richard Larson and Stan
Finkelstein, members of MIT’s Engineering Systems Division (ESD), who want to
get the word out about how to prevent the flu from spreading between family
members and other groups of people who live or work in close quarters.
“We thought, ‘Let’s look at the dynamics of the home and see if there are any
reasonably inexpensive steps that people could take to care for their loved
ones and simultaneously minimize the chance of getting infected,’” says
Larson, the Mitsui Professor of Engineering Systems.
